CHAPTER TWO

Cheryl glanced at her unresponsive phone yet again. During the night she had sent him over half a dozen texts, begging him to let her come over. He had warned her Friday afternoon he would be hard at work for his boss, and might not have the time to answer her, and so she didn’t think it all that strange. What she did find strange was that Saturday morning had come and had not seen him phone her as he usually did, insisting she come over and bring him breakfast in bed. She loved making love to him Saturday mornings, and had spent more than just a few weekends at his condo, prancing around in nothing but her high heels. This was the first Saturday that she had found herself either not being summoned to his place, or not having slept there from the Friday night before.

She was on fire at the thought of eventually making love to him at some point during the day, and assumed he had probably shut his phone off and fallen asleep. She was ready therefore to come over unannounced, and use the key he had given her to let herself in and roust him from his slumber. Her nipples were feeling stiff and in danger of needing to be sucked on. She was just about to head on down to the deli to pick up some breakfast for herself and her man when the phone rang. She leapt at the sound of the ringing. She had tossed and turned all night long, unable to sleep at being apart from him on a Friday night. But she smiled now. Undoubtedly that was him calling her to insist she drag her super sexy ass over to him immediately now that it was Saturday morning.

She glanced at the phone. It was not Daryl, it was her mom. Obviously her mother was phoning to see how things were going with the man of her dreams. Daryl had been hinting strongly that an engagement ring might soon be in the offing, and like any self-respecting mother and daughter team, the two had been starting to think about possible wedding plans and just who they might select for the bridal party, or just what colors might be worn, and what flowers might be chosen and which guests might be invited. With Daryl’s deep pockets, there was an added excitement in their chats, knowing that a lot of little extras could be added with a much heftier wedding budget in mind.

“Has he popped the question yet?”

“No mother, but any time now.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m certain of it. Just the other day he coyly asked nonchalantly as we passed by a jewellers, what kind of rings I preferred, whether a cluster, or one large diamond. I know for a fact he bought his ex a ring but never gave it to her. Perhaps he is thinking of trading it in.”

“Perhaps. I saw a nice dress today, one that would blow your mind, it is just so unbelievably nice.
